Drug-trafficking Nigerians busted

Lagos - Two Nigerian men have been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after they were found in possession of 3.7 kg of cannabis and methamphetamine.

The 53-year-old Obianwo Josiah Okwuchukwu concealed 1.7 kg of methamphetamine in his luggage on his way to Monrovia, Liberia while Ifeanyi Okafor (38) was found in possession of 2kg of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis sativa meant for export to Doha, Qatar.

The suspects were flying with Arik and Qatar Arlines respectively.

Hamza Umar, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Lagos Airport commander, said both suspects hail from Anambra State and claimed ownership of the drugs. They stated in statements to the police that they were enticed by the monetary reward offered by unnamed sponsors.
